The future of King of the Hill

King of the Hill was unjustly cancelled during its 13th season, with the last 4 remaining episodes airing in syndication in May 2010. There were rumors that it would return to ABC, as Mike Judge's "The Goode Family" looked to provide an outlet for KOTH to be paired with. Unfortunately, that rumor was debunked, and GF was cancelled. The return of Beavis and Butt-head in late 2011 lead to more speculation, but that has long since faded away. Other than Mike Judge having expressed interest in bringing KOTH back, there just isn't much discussion. So this begs the question: when will (if ever) King of the Hill return? What will it take for it to become a reality? FOX hasn't had much success in trying to find a replacement these past few years, and although Bob's Burgers is doing fairly decent ratings-wise, there just isn't much stability in the Sunday night lineup looking ahead. The Simpsons will end. Maybe not this year, maybe not next year...but it will end. Seth McFarland has expressed interest in ending Family Guy, but with it still performing great with ratings, who knows when the end will come. American Dad is still going pretty strong, although it isn't performing as well as it has. There is no way FOX can bank on all of these shows surviving another 2 years in ratings (or just in general), so they'll have to come up with something to be a suitable replacement. Given all of their recent failures and the amount of backlash they have received from canceling KOTH, my personal belief is that they will revive King of the Hill. And if that doesn't happen, then I believe it will get picked up in cable, similar to Futurama. There is just too much interest in this show for it to not be airing new episodes. Hopefully that will change soon.
